COVID-19 update: 2 cases, 5 recoveries reported for area

A total of two more cases of COVID-19 and five more recoveries from the virus were reported Sunday for the Green River District. Both new cases were in Daviess County. Recoveries were in Daviess (3) and Ohio (2) counties.

Of the 677 total cases reported by Green River District Health Department in the seven-county district, 530 (78%) have now recovered and 79 (12%) have required hospitalization. There are 17 patients currently hospitalized, and there have been 10 deaths — five in Daviess County, four in Henderson County, and one in McLean County.

The county totals are:

  • Daviess County – 317 cases, 263 recovered, 9 current hospitalizations, 31 ever hospitalized, 5 deaths
  • Hancock County – 8 cases, 6 recovered, 0 current hospitalizations, 1 ever hospitalized
  • Henderson County – 116 cases, 88 recovered, 6 current hospitalizations, 25 ever hospitalized, 4 deaths
  • McLean County – 24 cases, 21 recovered, 1 current hospitalization, 4 ever hospitalized, 1 death
  • Ohio County – 168 cases, 113 recovered, 1 current hospitalization, 11 ever hospitalized
  • Union County – 10 cases, 8 recovered, 0 current hospitalizations, 1 ever hospitalized
  • Webster County – 34 cases, 31 recovered, 0 current hospitalizations, 6 ever hospitalized

Patients range in age from 7 months-93 years old, with an average age of 43. To date, 54.6% of patients have been male and 45.4% have been female. Cases by age range are (not all demographic information is available yet because of late and incomplete reporting from a testing site):

  • <1 — 2 cases
  • 1-11 — 9 cases
  • 12-19 — 27 cases
  • 20-29 — 120 cases
  • 30-39 — 150 cases
  • 40-49 — 147 cases
  • 50-59 — 100 cases
  • 60-69 — 67 cases
  • 70-79 — 28 cases
  • 80+ — 23 cases

The cases reported by GRDHD have been investigated and confirmed locally. These cases are then reported to the Kentucky Department for Public Health. This process sometimes may result in lags between state and local reporting and some discrepancies from duplicate reports.
