In-person unemployment claims assistance will be available in Owensboro next Monday and Tuesday by appointment only according to Gov. Andy Beshear. A specific location or how to register has not yet been announced.

Beshear said during his daily briefing Wednesday the office in Owensboro — as well as one in Ashland — will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. local time, and additional details on how to sign up are forthcoming. Help will also be available in-person in Hopkinsville and Somerset July 7-8.

In-person assistance began last week in Frankfort, where it will be available again all next week from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. local time.

Beshear announced sites in western and eastern Kentucky “to make sure that we can have individuals there that don’t have to drive to Frankfort.”

Many people were also turned away last week in Frankfort due to the long lines and limited number of staffers, leading the state to create an online registration system going forward.

More details on the registration process are expected as early as Thursday.
