The first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week Award of the 2021 season belongs to Kentucky Wesleyan College in Evyn Hendrickson.
The senior was responsible for delivering the Panthers their first win of the season this past weekend as Wesleyan blanked Lincoln 1-0 and won on a walk-off in the bottom of the seventh.
Hendrickson threw a complete game shut out with 12 strikeouts while allowing just five hits and issuing four walks.
The 12 strikeouts was one shy of her career-high of 13 against McKendree in 2018. It marks the most in the G-MAC in a single game since Ursuline’s Brooklyn Miller struck out 13 in April 2019.
Hendrickson and the Panthers return to action the weekend of Feb. 26-28 for the inaugural Blue Bridge Battle hosted by Wesleyan at Jack C. Fisher Park in Owensboro. The tournament was scheduled for this weekend but was postponed due to weather.
This is a KWC Athletics press release.
