The Owensboro Lady Devils won their fifth-straight game Saturday as they went down to the 4th Region and took down Greenwood.
OHS edged the Lady Gators 44-41 behind a double-double from freshman Alyrica Hughes.
Hughes finished with a game-high 23 points and added 10 rebounds in the game as she scored in every quarter and got off to a hot start with 10 in the opening frame.
Emma Wilkins added 8 points while senior Lyric Lawrence finished with 7 points.
Owensboro is now above .500 at 9-8 as they host Apollo Monday night for a 9th District showdown.
Butler 44, Owensboro Catholic 29
Owensboro Catholic couldn’t keep its momentum going after Friday’s over Muhlenberg County as the Lady Aces were stymied by perennial power Louisville Butler.
Catholic fell behind in the first and couldn’t find its footing the rest of the way as the Lady Bears grabbed the 44-29 victory.
Butler’s Tiara East led all scorers with 18 points in the game as she finished with eight points in the first quarter.
Lady Aces freshman Hailee Johnson was the only Catholic player with multiple buckets. Johnson had a team-high 7 points in the loss.
Catholic plays at Central Hardin on Tuesday.
