Column: If you send it, it will run

In most people’s eyes, March means hoops, hoops and more hoops. While basketball is in full swing during this month, other sports are as well — but it’s sometimes difficult to tell.

Coverage of wrestling, swimming and bowling has been less than basketball because of a lack of information being sent in.

I’ve posted on Twitter and Facebook about having stats sent in and yet, that hasn’t helped much. As most know by now, or I hope would know, if I’m given information, it will be posted on the Owensboro Times.

Postseason for winter sports and activities is fast approaching, and I’d love nothing more than to give athletes in those three sports other than basketball recognition — but without the information, it’s difficult, if not impossible.

Some have said in the past they weren’t sure where to send information or that I didn’t reach out. With multiple sports going on currently, I’m trying to keep track of more than 20 teams … and with a sports staff of one (me), that’s not an easy assignment.

I’m going to keep this column short and to the point because if you’ve made it this far, I’m sure you’ve figured it out.

Basketball has dominated the OT Sports section the last couple of months because those coaches have sent information on a nightly basis. I’ve gotten results periodically from bowling and wrestling.

Please send stats. I don’t care if you’re a coach or a parent of an athlete, please take a couple minutes out of your evening and pass them along. Feel free to email them directly to me at [email protected].
