For the second time this season Evyn Hendrickson of the Kentucky Wesleyan College softball team has been named Great Midwest Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Hendrickson produced a record-setting day on Sunday to go along with a productive week at the Midwest Crossover at Deaconess Sports Park. In total Hendrickson completed 19.2 innings, recording 33 strikeouts in three games, against six walks.

Hendrickson went 2-1 over the week, picking up a pair of wins over Purdue Northwest on consecutive days. Her lone loss was to Davenport on Friday, a game that featured nine strikeouts.

On Saturday the Panthers took down the Pride in a pitcher’s duel, 3-2. Hendrickson went the distance striking out eight against no walks. She then picked up her third win of the season on Sunday, a 6-0 shutout of Purdue Northwest. Hendrickson pitched another complete game, her fifth of the season in the victory. She allowed just one hit on the day while striking-out a program-record 16, breaking a nearly 10-year-old record.

The previous program record of 15 strikeouts in a game was set on April 14th, 2012 by Ashlee Winstead. The record-setting did not stop there as Hendrickson also broke a G-MAC record. The most strikeouts in league history in a single game occurred on April 7th, 2013 against Salem International. The mark of 15 Ks was set by Haley Jo Kolmerten from Urbana. Hendrickson now stands alone in both record books.

The Panthers return to action March 20 against Brescia.

This is a KWC Athletics press release.
