Sanford announces reelection campaign for City Commission seat

City Commissioner Jeff Sanford is running for reelection. He is seeking a second consecutive term and his sixth term overall as City Commissioner.

Sanford was first elected as a commissioner in 2010 and served until 2016 when he ran for mayor unsuccessfully. He was elected again as commissioner in 2018 won a reelection bid in 2020.

After his last reelection, Sanford said he was excited to work on the Northwest Revitalization program to enhance the downtown and English Park and downtown areas, a project that is making strides as 2021 comes to a close.

Along with the revitalization program, he has helped oversee the City’s partnership between Big Rivers Electric Corp., helped the Owensboro Police Department recruit and retain employees, and brainstormed ideas for a transient dock behind the Owensboro Convention Center.

Over the years, he has served on numerous boards throughout the city including the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, Senior Community Center of Owensboro-Daviess County, Owensboro Housing Authority. Aside from his position as commissioner he also serves as a Real Estate Advisor for Hartz Real Estate LLC.

He received his bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Western Kentucky University in 1991.

Sanford did not respond to multiple attempts for comment by the time of publication.
