One of the latest trends to hit family get-togethers during the holiday season is the Saran Wrap game. Small-ticket prizes are rolled into layers of Saran Wrap, with the end result being the size of a basketball. Players take turns unwrapping the ball, keeping the prizes that fall out during their turn.

There are several variations of play — some require the person who is unwrapping to wear gloves or a blindfold — however, all participants agree it is a fun family game to play during the holidays.

This year, a woman in Georgetown, Ky., who said her family always purchases lottery scratch-offs as their “fun gifts” decided to put them in a Saran Wrap ball, along with other items.

“It’s just a lot of laughs,” Jessica Ewen said.

This past Sunday, as Ewen and her three siblings were unwrapping the ball, she ended up with a $25 Millionaire Jumbo Bucks ticket from the game.

When asked if she scratched the ticket off with her siblings, Jessica responded, “Some were there but I had to keep myself calm though to get through the rest of the holidays! As soon as I saw I won, I signed it and hid it!”

Ewen took the cash option amount and after taxes, she walked out with a check worth $553,800.

Ewen said winning a million dollars isn’t the only shock she’s had recently.

“We just found out we are expecting our fifth child. We’ll be using this money to purchase a bigger house because we’re busting at the seams,” Ewen said.
