Area flood warning alert extended

The National Weather Service Paducah Office’s flood warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana,
Kentucky and Illinois: Ohio River at Newburgh Dam, Mount Vernon, J.T. Myers Dam, Shawneetown, Paducah and Cairo.

Widespread minor flooding is occurring along numerous points along the lower Ohio River. Water levels will continue to rise along the river until early to mid next week when crests in minor flood stage are forecast.
River levels are then expected to slowly fall as we head into the first days of February.

The Flood Warning continues for the Ohio River at Newburgh Dam until Saturday, Feb. 2.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, the stage was 41.7 feet. Flood Stage is 38.0 feet.

Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

The river will continue rising to near 42.5 feet by Wednesday morning. The river will fall below flood stage
Saturday Feb. 2.
