Brescia University is inducting two new members into the The Brescia University Athletic Hall of Fame.
Keith Martin will be the featured speaking for the event. This year during the banquet, Brescia will recognize student athletes for their work on and off the field of play as well as in the classroom. The Brescia University Hall of Fame honors student-athletes, coaches and other individuals who have contributed to the promotion, development and success of Brescia University’s athletic program. Members of the Hall of Fame exemplify what it means to be a Brescia Bearcat.
The 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame inductees who will be honored at the Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. at the Moore Center are Olivia Moore Schum ‘14 and Andy Roberts ’02.
Olivia Moore Schum currently serves as the freshmen health and physical education teacher as well as the head girls basketball coach at Holy Cross High School in Louisville. While at Brescia, Olivia was a member of the women’s basketball team and pursued a degree in Business.
From 2010-2014, Olivia garnered numerous awards and set a number of school records. Over the course of her career, Olivia was a three-time KIAC All-Conference selection and earned NAIA All-American honors her sophomore season. She currently is the women’s basketball program’s all-time leading rebounder as well as the 3rd all-time in points scored.
Andy Roberts currently serves as a tax manager and CPA at Alexander & Co. CPAs, PSC. A former Daviess County High School standout and member of the 1995 State High School Championship team, Roberts remained in Owensboro for college and joined Brescia in the fall of 1998.
During his playing career at Brescia University, Roberts won six events individually and led the Bearcats to four consecutive National Championship appearances. In addition, he became the only First Team All American in Brescia men’s golf history (2002).
Since leaving Brescia, Andy continues enjoying success on the golf course. He is one of a select few to have won both The KY State Amateur Championship (2016) and the KY Open Championship (2010). In addition to those victories, Andy’s resume includes three KY Mid-Amateur Championships, 13 USGA Appearances, two Keys to the City of Owensboro, and a record seven Owensboro City Championships. Twice Roberts has been named the John Owens Kentucky Player of the Year.
