Independence Bank has been recognized at the national level by American Banker Magazine as a “Best Bank to Work For” in 2019. Independence Bank was the only Kentucky bank ranked in the top 25, being named 20th out of 85 organizations ranked across the country.

This is the sixth consecutive year that Independence Bank has been recognized as a Best Bank to Work For by the American Banker Magazine.

“Our employees are our biggest asset and make up the second largest shareholder group in the Bank. So our focus has always been on hiring the best people,” said Jacob Reid, President of Independence Bank. “The passion and dedication to making Independence Bank the best it can be that they demonstrate each day is what allows us to continue to grow and be successful. We have been able to maintain our unique family atmosphere culture even though we have grown exponentially over the years. This award is a testament to what sets Independence Bank apart and I hope every customer can tell the difference when they walk through our doors and are greeted by an Independence Bank employee who is proud to be part of the revolution.”

The program, which began in 2013, evaluates banks that have at least 50 employees working in the United States and are a Commercial Bank, Thrift, Mutual Association, Mutual Savings Bank, Savings and Loan Association or a Savings Bank. Employees at the organizations complete in-depth questionnaires and have the opportunity to provide honest feedback on a company-wide survey.

The evaluation focuses on eight core categories; leadership and planning, corporate culture and communications, role satisfaction, work environment, relationship with supervisor, train, development and resources, pay and benefits and overall engagement.

This accolade comes on the heels of a similar nomination at the state level earlier this year. Independence Bank was named the fourth Best Place to Work in Kentucky by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, the Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management and presented by Lifestyle Health Plans.

Independence Bank currently has over 400 employees serving 12 counties in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
