During Atmos Energy’s 2009 rate case, the Kentucky Public Service Commission approved a Pipeline Replacement Program (PRP) for its service territory in Kentucky. This program enables Atmos Energy to replace bare steel and other aging infrastructure.

“Atmos Energy is committed to the safety and reliability of our system. It is our number one priority,” said Kay Coomes, Manager Public Affairs. “We are continuing to replace pipe in different areas of Owensboro, and we will begin in the upcoming weeks.”

The total project involves 9,804 feet of pipe to be replaced. Also being replaced will be approximately 148 service lines (lines from street to house). Due to safety concerns, any meter that is currently on the public utility easement will be moved to the customer’s house. This change will be at no cost to the customer. As this happens, each homeowner will be updated accordingly. Atmos Energy contractors will be working in the following areas:

Daviess Street, 17th Street, 18th Street, Cruise Drive, Allen Street, 19th Street and Frederica Street from Ford Avenue to 24th Street.

Atmos Energy will work with local officials should road closures become necessary. There will be signage and professional flagging crews on site. Atmos Energy appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as we continue to invest in the communities we serve. The anticipated date of completion is late February 2020, notwithstanding any unforeseen complications.
