This is a paid press release.

This Saturday, July 11, the Third Annual Jimmy V Classic doubleheader will be played at Huntingburg’s League Stadium at 12 p.m. EDT between the Owensboro Bombers and the Bowling Green Colonels.

It’s been a strange and sad occurrence for these 16-19-year-old kids from seven high schools and colleges around the Owensboro area because no high school field in Kentucky as a result of the COVID-19 virus has been available to play on. The good news, baseball is back and the team’s current record is 6–3 coming off a weekend 3-game sweep of Lyon County in Eddyville, Ky.

We are grateful that Legion Stadium allowed this event to be played on this historical venue for a great charity, the Jimmy V Foundation.

Last July, the Bombers hosted Oldham County, Ky., to honor Jimmy V, accepting donations as admission to the game. Our team matched a portion of dollars given and players wore special teal camoflague uniforms to reccognize prostate cancer patients. where we donated close to $2,000 to the “Kentuckiana Friends of V” assuring funds will stay in the Louisville & Lexington Cancer Research Centers.

We’ll have a special commemorative presentation in between the double-header along with MLB memorabilia and other fun giveaways throughout the day at the ballpark. A minimum donation of at least $5.00 per person will get you into the games “free.” Give generously and make your tax-deductible checks payable to “Kentuckiana Friends of V”.

This teams is loaded with some of the best talents from the 3rd Region and had the vision to make it to the National American Legion World Series in Shelby, N.C., Unfortunately, the Legion season was officially canceled in early May due to the virus as well.

Attached is our magazine with all specific information about the team. Page 3 is our roster and Page 14 has the colleges our players will be attending this fall.
