The Sunflower and Pickle Festival returns to The Cottage Farm Stand & Baking Co. on October 1 as a kickoff to their sunflower season and vendors can sign up for booths now.

The two-day event will be a perfect way to celebrate fall. Guests can cut sunflowers, navigate the corn maze, and choose their own pumpkin from The Cottage’s patch. Local and regional artisans and small businesses are encouraged to sign up for booths now as space fills up quickly.

An added feature to this year’s festival will be food vendors. The Cottage will continue to offer its regular menu, but a limited number of spots will be available for food trucks and other local fare.

Of course, there will be every kind of pickle-themed food imaginable like fried pickles, pickle ice pops, pickle cotton candy, pickle pop-corn, pickle corn muffins, pickle juice shots, and more.

“My hope is that by hosting festivals and events at The Cottage, more people will discover everything the west side of Owensboro has to offer,” Knight said. “There’s so much growth on the east side, and that’s great, but there’s so much goodness out here on the west side, too, so we want to keep people coming this way.”

Knight added, “I’ve heard from so many people that they found their new favorite earrings or piece of art from the vendors at the Strawberry Festival. I love that The Cottage can help these artisans and small businesses get their work out there.”

Anyone interested in renting a booth at the Sunflower & Pickle Festival should contact Marlene via email at marleneknightevents@gmail or send a message via The Cottage Facebook page @cottagehwy56. The event is on October 1st and 2nd, from 9 am to 4 pm each day. The Cottage is at 6869 Highway 56 in Sorgho.
