Southern Star appoints Charles Crews as Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer

Southern Star is pleased to announce Charles Crews will become Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer effective December 1, 2022. Mr. Crews succeeds Shawn Patterson who will become President and Chief Executive Officer effective October 1, 2022.

“Having worked with Charles for nearly 14 years, I’m excited for the passion and innovation Charles will bring to the team in helping us reach our strategic goals,” said Patterson.

Crews most recently served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Northeast Gas Association (NGA) in 2021. NGA is the nation’s largest regional energy trade association representing energy companies across the Northeast United States.

Prior to joining NGA, he served as Principal of a management consulting firm, FPH Consulting Services, LLC, where he led the company’s engagements across a broad spectrum of areas including operations management, capital investment, infrastructure planning, organizational design, and business plan development.

With more than two decades of industry experience, Crews has held various leadership and executive positions. He served as vice president for Consumers Energy, one of the nation’s largest investor-owned utilities, leading the strategy, operations, maintenance, and construction for the company’s natural gas operations division.
