Owensboro’s Chick-fil-A will reopen Tuesday after just more than 2 months of being closed for a renovation costing nearly $1.4 million — including the installation of a two-lane drive-thru. They’ll currently only be offering drive-thru and mobile curbside orders.

A Facebook post Monday night reads:

Hello valued guests! We are pleased to announce our phased reopening Tuesday, August 17th. We will be open for lunch and serving you through our Drive-Thru and Mobile Curbside orders only at this time.

Mobile Curbside parking is now located on the East side of the building (next to the Fairfield Inn). There are signs in the parking lot that will help you find these spaces.
We are excited for you to use our 2 lane Drive-Thru area with covered ordering and pick-up areas.

Thank you for your patience as we train several new team members and get adjusted to our redesigned facility.

We are excited to see each of you and look forward to serving you.

The location has been closed since June 3 and the original plans were to re-open in late July. Owensboro Times first reported on May 1 that the location was expected to undergo the renovation.

OT reported that a building permit was issued on April 20, with with the project description of a “small addition and interior remodel” and a construction cost totaling $1,390,021. The building permit applicant was Andrew Micham, president of Horizon Construction Company based out of Alpharetta, Georgia.

Late last year, Chick-fil-A purchased additional property valued at $46,000, with local officials saying at the time the move was to expand parking.

The property is at 735 Carlton Drive — located behind the Shell gas station that is next to Chick-fil-A. In December 2020, local officials said the property would be used to build additional spaces for employees and customers during busy dining times.

Owensboro’s Chick-fil-A opened in November 2009.
