The International Bar-B-Q Festival Board of Directors announced Thursday morning that the 2020 festival is cancelled due to concerns about the COVID-19 outbreak.

Allen Payne, 2020 Event Chair, said, “We feel it is in the best interest to follow the guidelines put in place by federal and state officials to avoid mass gatherings.”

The festival was scheduled for May 8-9. Currently, there are no plans to reschedule the event for later in the year.

The International Bar-B-Q Festival was established in 1979 and this will be the first time in the event’s history that it has been canceled.
