COVID-19 affecting store hours, operations

As the nation continues to deal with COVID-19 major retailers are also shutting their doors or reducing hours.

For the second time in less than a week, Walmart is adjusting hours to keep its shelves stocked and the store clean. The new hours are from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

They will also offer special shopping hours for people 60 and older and those with compromised immune systems on Tuesdays from 6 to 7 a.m. The program is scheduled to run from March 24 to April 28.

Starbucks on Frederica St., announced Friday afternoon the store would be closed effective immediately and the KY 54 location would be drive-thru only.

Dollar General and Big Lots also announced they would reserve the first hour of the day for elderly shoppers. Target has designated the first hour on Wednesdays for them.

Kohl’s said in a message to customers that its stores are closed until at least April 1.

Ulta Beauty closed stores Thursday night until at least March 31.

Best Buy reduced hours earlier in the week to 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time. On Monday, the company plans to use curbside pickup and limit access to stores, including only allowing 10 to 15 customers in at a time.

Several area banks have closed their lobbies to the public and are only taking scheduled appointments. Drive-thrus and ATMS are staying open.

With information changing daily on store closings and hours of operation, patrons are encouraged to call before visiting businesses.
