Daviess County Fiscal Court is looking to purchase new target throwing machines for the Daviess County Gun Club.

The gun club is among the facilities that will remain open during the COVID-19 crisis.

Jordan Johnson, the county’s purchasing agent, said the new target set will accommodate any additional business.

“Nothing, in particular, is sparking the purchase outside of the department’s recommendation and the availability of the grant to offset the cost,” Johnson said.

Johnson said the purchase will be offset by a grant from the National Rifle Association (NRA).

The Fiscal Court owns and operates DCGC, which is located about seven miles east of downtown Owensboro in Maceo. The county acquired the gun club in July 2019 in an effort to revitalize it after it had been closed for months prior.

“We bought starting equipment through a bid when we first opened the gun club last year under county management. This got us through the fall and winter season,” Johnson said.

The Fiscal Court is accepting bids for the following items:
MEC 400D Mini Defender Series – holding 400 targets with 100 yd throwing distance.
Six MEC 400D Standard Defender Series – holding 400 targets with 100 yd throwing distance.
MEC 400E Chandelle Rabbit – holding 400 targets.
MEC 300E Skeet Set – Including two (2) commercial skeet sets with adjustable skeet bases, each holding 300 targets.
MEC Skeet Release & Field Wiring – Three-button skeet release cord with field wiring and junction box. High, low and pair presentations.
MEC Inverter 100 Amp to allow 12v sporting clay target machines to run from a 110v power supply without using a battery.
