Glenmore Distillery has temporarily ceased operations after learning one of their employees tested positive for COVID-19. The employee was one of five new coronavirus cases confirmed in Daviess County earlier Friday.

Sazerac Public Relations Manager Amy Preske confirmed Saturday that the distillery did temporarily cease operations last night and a third party is sanitizing the facility per CDC guidelines. She said it is a temporary closure and the company expects to resume normal operations in the near future.

According to a company letter that was sent to Owensboro Times, Glenmore — a Sazerac company — was notified about the positive test by Green River Health District Department.

Other employees will be notified depending on their level of risk, according to the letter.

“If you have been identified as an individual with more than a low risk of exposure, we will be notifying you directly,” the letter reads.

Once the cleaning has been completed, Glenmore will notify employees so operations can resume.

In the letter, the company also said, “Team member safety and security continues to be our core cultural value as we monitor the status of coronavirus.”
