The Daviess County Public Library will be closed for at least one week starting Monday due to the developing concerns regarding COVID-19.

DCPL Public Relations Coordinator Tiffani Henry said they will monitor the situation and adjust the schedule as needed.

In a statement Friday, DCPL announced they are in the process of implementing a “curbside pickup” where patrons can pre-order materials to be brought out to their vehicle.

All programming is suspended at this time.

Henry said customers can utilize services such as Hoopla and Kentucky Library Unbound to check out digital materials.

DCPL is hoping to stream their Story Time program online twice a week for children to view at home. They will also be creating a Facebook group to release ideas for at-home activities for parents and children to do together.

“Although we will not be open to the public, we are trying to think of new and creative ways to continue to serve Daviess County,” said Executive Director Erin Waller. “Our top priority is protecting the health and safety of our customers and our staff. We hope that by taking this measure, we can do just that. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we do feel that it is in the public’s best interest.”

The library staff will be available during this time to help with the curbside pickup and to answer calls. The library encourages users to come in this weekend and pick up materials to take home.
