According to Owensboro Health, one patient has been admitted to the hospital and is “under investigation” after concerns they contracted COVID-19. There are no confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Daviess County as of yet.

The patient was admitted early Monday morning, according to Chief Medical Officer Francis DuFrayne.

A COVID-19 test was administered to the patient and has been sent to the state testing lab in Frankfort. DuFrayne said the results are currently pending and that officials should receive an answer 24-48 hours from now.

DuFrayne could not reveal the gender nor age of the admitted patient but said they are being monitored by hospital staff in a single room. The hospital has 32 negative pressure rooms and these rooms do not allow air to escape. They also have the ability to add more of these rooms, if needed.

According to DuFrayne and other doctors across the globe, only 15 percent of COVID-19 patients require hospitalization.
