The Wendell Foster Half Marathon will not be happening Saturday.

Due to developing concerns regarding COVID-19 and in collaboration with Owensboro Health, Green River District Health Department, and the Owensboro Mayor’s office, Wendell Foster made the decision Thursday to postpone race and race expo.

As this is a rapidly evolving situation, they will send out more information as it becomes available.

Community leaders and our presenting sponsor Owensboro Health have been working together during the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) to limit chances for exposure locally. Although there is no cause for panic, we’d prefer to err on the side of caution and make these adjustments if it has the potential to keep our community healthy.

All registrations will be honored for the postponed race. Race officials are currently working with the city for an alternative date and will announce as they finalize plans.

Race officials said they appreciate all of the support and understanding the community, sponsors and participants have given this event and Wendell Foster. While they regret having to take this action the well being of the community and residents is their highest priority.
