The City of Owensboro is accepting bids until April 16 for a new workstation for the Owensboro-Daviess County Central Dispatch.

“It’s an actual workstation that’s more conducive for the dispatchers to use,” said Paul Nave, 911 dispatch director. “It has served its purpose well, however sometimes you need to make advancements. This is an opportunity to apply for a grant to make an advancement in getting actual true 911 console workstations that are conducive for operation.”

The Kentucky 911 Services Board is accepting applications for its 2020 competitive grant, which serve the 911 dispatch community.

Nave said the selected vendor will provide a quote, but the contract may not be awarded if the City doesn’t get the grant.

“I’m trying to be proactive and also make it conducive for the operation of key people,” Nave said. “The other thing is it makes a key difference for the community. It’s a win-win always for both sides.”
