Owensboro’s Golden Corral will remain closed permanently, the company confirmed Tuesday morning. The local buffet restaurant, located at 4500 Frederica St., had previously only announced a temporary closure due to the coronavirus.

“Our restaurant in Owensboro, Ky., will remain permanently closed due to the business impact of COVID-19,” according to a statement from the corporation. “We appreciate the support of the community and the many guests who have dined with us at this location. Our thoughts and prayers are with our restaurant team members and their families.”

The Owensboro location opened in March 2017. It occupied the building that was formerly Ryan’s Buffet.

There was confusion surrounding another tri-state Golden Corral last week on social media when a story about a closure in Henderson, N.C., was mistaken for Henderson, Ky.

At least two other Owensboro restaurants have announced they will not reopen. TGI Friday’s and Los Cabos Mexican Restaurant will both remain closed permanently.
