The Creme Coffee House is getting a new owner, plus an updated menu. Adam Patterson is selling the business to his daughter Brooklyn, who will be adding baked goods to the coffee shop’s list of food items.

Located in downtown Owensboro, The Creme has been owned by Adam for several years. From the beginning it was his plan to sell the business to Brooklyn, who lives in Owensboro with her 7-month-old son, Case.

“Recently, since April, we’ve really been talking about it,” Brooklyn said. “I’ve been working there for a few weeks and will transition into becoming the owner.”

Brooklyn, 20, said she doesn’t want to take away from the coffee served at The Creme, but that she simply wants to expand the menu to include what she’s passionate about — baking.

New items baked and served by Brooklyn and the staff at The Creme will include cupcakes, pastries and cakes. They will be sold individually inside the store and in bulk for birthday parties and special occasions.

The Creme opened at 33% capacity Friday, meaning 20 people at a time will be allowed inside. The outdoor courtyard will be able to accommodate an unlimited number of people, but to ensure that every customer is taken care of, Brooklyn and her staff will continue serving menu items through curbside pickup and delivery.

“We’re going to resume like nothing happened,” she said. “I’m really excited to take on this new adventure. I hope the business succeeds and grows, and I hope the community enjoys baking as much as I do.”
