The GO Forward Economic Recovery Task Force was launched Tuesday, and the group of local leaders will work together to help overcome challenges as Owensboro and the surrounding area continue to reopen the economy.

The goal of GO Forward will be to ensure collaboration across the community, making sure there are no gaps in communication or services while providing resources and a framework as businesses reopen.

“Now that our reopening process is in full swing, it is time to do all we can to assist our corporations, small businesses, non-profits and service organizations in any way possible, while also demonstrating to investors, mobile talent and visitors that Greater Owensboro is open for business,” Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Candance Castlen Brake said in a release.

The Task Force is co-led by the Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Corporation and Visit Owensboro. It also includes members of the local government, hospitality industry, riverport, airport, agri-business leaders, health care sector, school systems, higher education institutions, workforce development leaders and nonprofit leaders.

“As a task force we also hope to raise awareness of individual challenges, but more importantly, how we might think and act collectively to better address and tackle the priorities ahead,” Castlen Brake said. “We hope this gives you confidence in knowing that your staff — the organizations that work for you and that you support — are working together as we go forward.”
