In 2020, 1,839 homes were sold in Owensboro according to the Greater Owensboro REALTOR Association. That’s a 6% increase over 2019.

“Even with the limitations of the pandemic, the REALTOR community rallied to find alternative ways to do business,” said Karen Gross, 2020 GORA President. “This community is more than just the REALTOR agents; it includes the title companies, the inspectors, the appraisers, and the loan officers. The collaboration speaks volumes to the creativity of our industry, while maintaining the professionalism in all aspects of the transaction.”

The value of homes in 2020 increased 13% to an average sold price of $180,895, compared to the 2019 value of $159,604.

Sales volume grew 20% to $332,665,436 in 2020.

“Last year, our area saw strong growth in home values and solid increases in market activity,” said 2021 President Jason Bellamy. “With home values changing rapidly and inventory remaining low, it is important for the consumer to have professional guidance during their real estate transaction.”

The average days on market for a home in Owensboro was 77 days in 2020. That’s a 10% improvement from the 86-day average in 2019.

GORA CEO Jaclyn Graves said members not only adapted to the ever-changing guidelines and restrictions but did so in a way that kept their clients informed, took extra precautions to maintain a safe environment and efficiently guided consumers through the fast-paced housing market.

“I am beyond proud to work with and work for the members of our association and am excited to see what 2021 holds,” she said.
