Owensboro teen arrested after allegedly assaulting DCSO officer

An Owensboro man has been arrested after allegedly leading officers on a pursuit and assaulting a deputy.

According to reports, Daviess County Sheriffs Office deputies responded to the Chuckles gas station at 2402 KY 144 shortly after midnight in reference to a male subject, later identified as Tristan Rogers, refusing to leave the store and locking himself in the bathroom.

When deputies arrived and made contact with Rogers, he fled on foot and a pursuit began. Rogers led deputies down Commerce Drive and to KY 603 where he struck a deputy with a metal object in the face causing minor injury., according to reports.

Rogers then crossed the highway and entered a woodline near Maple Heights Avenue. DCSO deputies and Owensboro Police Department officers searched the area on foot and Rogers was located hiding in the trees where he was arrested.

He was treated at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for minor injuries and transported to the Daviess County Detention Center on the charges listed below.

The deputy received medical treatment on scene and was able to return to duty.

Rogers, 19, was charged with:

  • Second-degree assault of a police officer
  • First-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot)
  • Resisting arrest
  • Third-degree terroristic threatening
  • Criminal trespassing
  • Public intoxication
  • Menacing
