Starting on May 28, the curfew on restaurants and bars will be lifted and bar seating will be allowed, Gov. Andy Beshear announced Monday.

An early curfew of 10 p.m. for last call and an 11 p.m. closing time were implemented in August 2020. Those were each pushed back an hour in September and another hour in March.

Beshear urged everyone to still use caution.

“Be reasonable,” he said. “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Look at your own facilities, look at the ability for air to move in and out, look at what your vaccination rates are in your county and what your incidence rates are and try to make good decisions.

The loosened restrictions coincide with an announcement Beshear made last week.

He said all indoor and outdoor businesses and venues that cater to 1,000 or fewer people can increase to 75% capacity starting May 28. Indoor and outdoor events with more than 1,000 people can be held at 60% capacity.

Beshear said he expects the state to fully remove all capacity restrictions by July.
