OPD investigating Wednesday night shooting, one victim injured

The Owensboro Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred late Wednesday night, leaving one man injured with what officials say appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.

According to OPD, at 11:40 p.m. officers were flagged down by an adult male who had a single gunshot wound from a shooting that occurred in the 600 block of Poplar Street. The victim found the officers on the 1200 block of W. 5th Street.

The victim told officers he was operating his vehicle when his vehicle was struck multiple times by gunfire. The victim was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

One of the bullets fired also struck a residence that was occupied by one person at the time.
