Travon E. Anthony, 33, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the 2018 murder of Todd Raley along with two other charges.

His sentence included 25 years for murder, 10 years for possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and 5 years for intimidating a participant in a legal process. Those sentences will run concurrently.

Anthony will not be eligible for probation until he has served at least 85% of his sentence. He has already served approximately 1,100 days that will count toward his sentence.

The sentencing from Judge Jay Wethington came Tuesday morning. Anthony appeared virtually from the Daviess County Detention Center, where he has been since his arrest.

On Sept. 10, 2018, Owensboro Police Department responded to a shooting in the 3200 block of W. 2nd Street, according to reports. One victim — later identified as 52-year-old Raley — was transported by ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Raley later died from his wounds.

Anthony originally entered a not guilty plea on Nov. 16, 2018.

In late 2019, Anthony was ordered to undergo psychiatric examination through the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center. After a competency hearing and two evaluations, Anthony was deemed competent to stand trial in February 2020.

On July 1, 2021, Anthony made a guilty plea pursuant to North Carolina vs. Alford. An Alford plea is one in which a defendant maintains their innocence but admits that the prosecution’s evidence would likely result in a guilty verdict if brought to trial.
