With fall now officially underway, Western Kentucky Botanical Garden will be hosting several events — including a music and bourbon-tasting event this week — heading into the new season.

Executive Director of WKBG Laurna Strehl said she has always wanted to offer people different experiences in the garden outside of enjoying the nature.

WKBG will close out September with Bourbon, Bluegrass & Blooms from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday.

There will be live music from Lousiville-based band Bourbon Revival. There will also be bourbon tastings from Green River Distilling Co. as well as a cash bar and a food truck. Tickets for the event are $15 per person and free for guests 12 & under.

On Oct. 2 features free admission for everyone — a new program this year. There will aslo be a free event for children ages 6-12 through a partnership with Daviess County Public Library. Children can enjoy a selection of books from the library, listen to a story, and take a nature walk. With supervision, they will also mix up their own laundry soap.

On Oct. 7, WKBG will hold their bi-monthly Garden Buds Preschool Program where students are able to take nature lessons and have an arts and crafts session. That same day, the Garden will hold their Home School Days for ages 7-12.

Oct. 12 marks the last Lunch, Listen, Learn of the year. This meeting will be dedicated to Wildflowers and how to properly care for them, as well as the benefits that come with planting wildflowers. Lunch will be local and costs $12 for members of WKBG or $15 for non-members.
