Summer Aldridge and Allyson Sanders are bringing a new market to Owensboro with the help of Pearl — Owensboro’s newest portable and customizable photo booth.

Pearl is a digital photo booth capable of taking photos, boomerangs and videos and even customizing the photo with a personal filter for every event.

Pearl is the first of what the owners hope becomes multiple photo stations for their business, named Something Borrowed. They said Pearl is flexible enough to be used for corporate events and birthday parties and has easy functionality since “she” is an iPad on a portable stand.

Aldridge said she had learned about the product after seeing it at another event, and noticed that the market exists in other cities.

The two hope that Pearl marks the start of more modern and unique party rental equipment options that Something Borrowed will dive into. While Sanders is also co-owner of The Party Space Place, she is excited about Something Borrowed becoming similar to a sister business.

“This is our first step towards a full event rentals business that will always be a sister of The Party Space Place. But there’s a huge opportunity to bring things like this,” Aldridge said. “People are renting things from down the road or across the bridge that we could have right here in Owensboro.”

And at the center of their efforts, they want their product to be affordable for all clients.

The two Kentucky Wesleyan College alumnae said they owe The Party Space Place for bringing them together, as they hit it off instantly. The desire to create this new business is keeping them united as they try to bring a unique market to the city.

Something Borrowed is already booked for a couple of events — both for nonprofits and private celebrations.

The business also comes at a perfect time for The Party Space Place, as Sanders said the goal has always been to take the party to the customer.

“The idea of being able to go beyond our four walls and being able to partner with people like Summer, that’s the whole point of The Party Space Place in the first place is just to like really entrench ourselves in Owensboro and serve the community,” Sanders said.

While neither are from Owensboro, the two are happy to consider it home and chose to stay because of the opportunities they have received here; now, they plan to return that love.

“Owensboro loves to support local. They dig in and if even if they don’t have anything planned, they’re gonna find something to plan just to support and that is so cool, you’re not gonna get that anywhere else,” Sanders said.

Something Borrowed can be reached by calling 270-619-6993, their website or by visiting them on Facebook.
