Daviess County Fiscal Court on Tuesday approved reducing both the real property and personal property tax rates. City Commissioners are considering a lower personal property tax rate but will not vote until a later meeting.
Fiscal Court approved reducing the real property tax from 13.4% to 13.0% and the personal property rate from 16.37% to 13.84%. Tax rates on motor vehicles/watercraft, agriculture products, and bank deposits will remain unchanged.
Meanwhile, the only tax rate expected to change in the City is personal property, which would drop from 33.02 cents per $100 of assessed valuation to 27.61.
The real property tax rate would remain at 26.4 cents per $100 of assessed valuation while the vehicle tax rate would remain at 30.3 cents per $100 of assessed valuation cents per $100.
The City’s ordinance will be voted on at the Sept. 6 meeting.
