Christopher N. Clements on Thursday pleaded guilty to reckless homicide the 2020 shooting death of 49-year-old Dustin Walker.
According to a report at the time of the incident, the Owensboro Police Department responded to the 000-100 block of Hanning Lane at approximately 11:11 p.m. on June 28, 2020, for a reported shooting. Officers located Walker inside the residence with a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Walker was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, where he later died from his injuries, according to the report.
Clements, now 34, was arrested and charged with murder on July 2, 2020. That charge was amended down Thursday to reckless homicide. Clements was also facing a charge of persistent felony offender, but, it was dismissed Thursday.
Clements was sentenced to 5 years in prison, but that will not begin until he finishes serving his current sentence of 8 years for being found guilty of a convicted felon in possession of a handgun. He began serving his current sentence in June of 2022.
