The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is again accepting bids for the KY 54 expansion project after the ones submitted in December were too high to accept. KYTC officials also said the widening of Thurston Dermont Road is a project that could be pursued in the coming years.

The KY 54 project will be rebid in March; it’s the third time KYTC is accepting them, as they receive none during the first application window a few months ago.

Keirsten Jaggers, KYTC Public Information Officer, said the project is still slated to be completed on time.

Section 1.1 is the potion expected to be worked on first. That’s from roughly Heartland Crossing Boulevard to Bold Forbes Way — approximately mile markers 2.4 to 3.8.

Jaggers also confirmed that the state is considering expanding Thruston Dermont Road. Before they move forward with those plans, they have to hold a public meeting to gauge public opinion.

A date has not yet been set for the public meeting but will be announced at a later date.
