The Daviess County Clerk’s Office has a free search tool available to the public for researching legal recording documents. Within about 3 years, the Daviess County Clerk’s Office will have digitized all records — mortgages, deeds, plats, wills, marriage licenses, etc. — dating back to 1966.

The Clerk’s Office is using the service eCCLIX, which allow individuals and businesses to search records with no limit on the number of searches per day.  Users will have to create a free account.

Daviess County Clerk Leslie McCarty said they plan to finish the project by June 2026. She said they will still keep the Records Room open for the public to utilize and to aid with any search.

Anyone wanting printed copies from the records room will still have to pay for them. McCarty said the cost varies depending on if it’s a certified copy.

Navigating the documents are pretty similar across all records, McCarty said. In person, someone would just need to locate the name in the index — which can all be done online before arriving at the Records Room.
