Thirty people have applied to serve as interim City Commissioner until the vacant seat can be filled by whoever wins a special election later this year. The City Commission will hold two public meetings next week during which they will conduct interviews and appoint one of the applicants.

One group of applicants will interview during a Special Called Meeting beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday, and the other group will interview during a Special Called Meeting beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The appointment will take place at the conclusion of the meeting on Tuesday.

City Manager Nate Pagan said the candidates were split based on availability and “randomization” if they were available for both nights.

“On Monday, we’re gonna do a closed session just to kind of talk through those applicants while they’re fresh on everyone’s minds.
