Jo Beth Grigsby has been named principal at East View Elementary School.

Jo Beth Grigsby has been named principal at East View Elementary School. She will replace Sonya Simpson, who was recently named the first Full-Service Schools Community Coordinator for Daviess County Public Schools.

Grigsby has served as assistant principal at Audubon Elementary School for the last 3 years, but prior to that spent 14 years at East View teaching various grade levels and subject areas. In 2020, she took on a new role at East View Elementary as the Gap Coordinator, where she created a professional development action plan with certified staff due to COVID-19 academic gaps and 9 weeks of home learning.

“East View has and always will hold a special place in my heart. My roots are deep here. It was my home for 14 year,” Grigsby said. “East View will be a school where the families, staff, and students thrive in a nurturing and loving environment.”

DCPS assistant superintendent for human services Dr. Amy Shutt said Grigsby was chosen at the end of a thorough process that focused on seeking a leader to maintain and build upon the culture and instructional success of East View.

“Mrs. Grigsby is a leader who has deep roots at East View. I have confidence that she will lead them on a path where the staff and students will reach high academic achievement,” Shutt said. “She will facilitate the growth of an environment where every teacher can grow professionally and every student can reach their potential. Jo Beth brings a strong instructional work ethic, a love for East View, and a passion for educating the whole child.”
