The Kentucky 2A Basketball Championships return to the Owensboro Sportscenter on January 12-14.
The tournament will feature 8 girls’ teams and eight boys’ teams that each won their respective sectional championship. The first ever 2A championships were held in Owensboro in 2019. To compete, schools must have less than 1,000 enrollment and cannot be eligible for the All “A” Classic tournament.
“This championship represents the culmination of dedication and hard work by student-athletes, coaches, and schools, emphasizing the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and skill development,” said Matt Bell, championship co-founder and Hopkins County Director of Athletics and Special Programs. “The Kentucky 2A Basketball Championships offer a unique opportunity for these athletes to showcase their talents on a statewide stage.”
Visit Owensboro facilitates the state championship event.
“As the host city, this state championship serves as a catalyst for economic vitality for tourism in Daviess County. It also gives us a chance to showcase our incredible city to new visitors,” said Visit Owensboro President and CEO Mark Calitri.
