In a pair of 9th district games, Daviess County and Daviess County emerged victorious.
Daviess County 8, Apollo 0
Bella Coombs and Eve Kinison both scored twice in Daviess County’s 8-0 win over Apollo. Sasha Foster, Bailey Brown, Hadley Morris, and Mack Elliot all scored, while Mary Evelyn Wiman had an assist.
“We struggled to finish some of the opportunities we were getting early on, but I thought we controlled possession pretty well,” Daviess County Head Coach Paige Crisp said. “It can be difficult to score when the other team has so many players in front of their goal, but we figured it out toward the end and did what we needed to do.”
Owensboro Catholic 6, Owensboro 2
Allie Marston tied her season high with five goals and added an assist to power the Lady Aces past Owensboro 6-2. Scarlett Isenbarger had a goal and an assist, while Chloe Martson also recorded an assist.
“Our girls passed the ball much better than they had been, and it was great seeing us play like we normally do,” Owensboro Catholic Head Coach Meg Patton said. “The movement on and off the ball was spectacular. Every player on our team had playing time, and all the girls showed amazing effort. We will continue to build on this for the rest of our season as we head into district and region play.”
For the Lady Devils, Lily Nieman scored twice off of assists from Ella Hall and LP Early, while Hayley Sikes finished with 14 saves in net.
“This was a tough game,” Owensboro Head Coach Sarah Poole said. “The girls were flat going out and really didn’t show energy until the second half.”
