Teeing off in the steady rain after a four-hour weather delay, Daviess County shot 330 on the first day of the State Finals – tied with Bowling Green for fifth. Trailing fourth-place Marshall County by seven strokes entering day two, the Lady Panthers found their stride, shooting 325 and finishing the tournament with a 655, landing them on the podium in fourth.

Madison Central won the tournament shooting 604, while Lexington Christian (616) and Sacred Heart (621) rounded out the top three.

“Fourth place overall against some outstanding programs from across the state is an incredible accomplishment,” Daviess County Head Coach Jonas Billingsley said. “This season has lived up to expectations, and I am super proud of our seniors in Baylie, Claire, and Alexa.  For our underclassmen, Briley and Kennedi showed they are ready to lead the DC golf program for years to come.”

Claire Reynolds led the Lady Panthers with a 155, tying her for 16th overall. After she shot 82 on day one, she rebounded with a 73 yesterday. Briley Billingsley (tied for 35th, 164), Alexa Salamah (tied for 48th, 169), and Baylie Billingsley (tied for 48th, 169), rounded out the Lady Panther’s top four scores. Eighth grader Kennedi Minton made her state finals debut, finishing tired for 69th after shooting 176.

“Claire played a great round of golf today, and she has been consistent and proven one of the best golfers in the state,” Billingsley said. “Briley played exceptionally well, and she hit the ball great both days. Baylie didn’t score well today, but off the tee, she was terrific. Kennedi improved her score in a big way today, and I am proud of her performance. Alexa had a few extra hiccups on the course, but she finished the day with a smile.  I am proud of her contributions to our team performance over the last 4 years.”
