BOYS’ RECAPS
ACES TOP COLONELS IN HOME MATCH
Owensboro Catholic (2-1) capped off the first week of the season with a 2-1 home victory over Christian County (0-2). Joe Fusco scored the first goal of the game with a penalty kick midway through the opening period, then assisted on the winning score by Dominic Ranallo.

Caleb Ranallo had six saves in goal. The Aces had 14 shots, with eight on goal. The Colonels had 11 shots.

PANTHERS BLANK TIGERS ON ROAD
Jacob Boling and Hunter Clark each had a pair of goals and an assist as Daviess County (2-0) rolled to a 5-0 win at Hopkinsville (2-2). A Boling-to-Clark connection got the scoring started 13 minutes into the game.

Boling scored once before halftime and again after, both off assists from Hayden Boswell.  Boswell then got a goal of his own with an assist from Clark, who recorded the final score on a cross from Neh Reh.

EAGLES BOUNCE BACK, EARN FIRST WIN
After falling behind 1-0 early, Apollo (1-2) bounced back to finish with a 4-1 victory on the road at Meade County (0-2) with help from two late goals by Jacob Gillim.

Jalen Kirk scored the first goal for the Eagles by knocking in a rebounded shot, knotting the game at 1-1 through halftime. Harrison Bowman scored on a pass from Casey Rynkowski midway through the second period, while Yo Shi Ya and Houston Collins picked up assists on the goals by Gillim.

GIRLS’ RECAPS
LADY PANTHERS CRUISE IN PAIR OF VICTORIES
The high-powered offense continued for Daviess County (4-0) in a pair of dominant home victories in the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s DC Classic. After a 5-1 win over Elizabethtown (0-4) in the morning, the Lady Panthers needed only one half for a 10-0 victory over Muhlenberg County (2-2) in the afternoon.

In game one, Meredith Campbell and Chloe Hinchcliffe notched two goals each and Avery McNeiley added one. Campbell, Hinchcliffe and Sophie Jagoe each had one assist.

In game two, goals came from Kenlee Newcom (3), Ashlyn Payton (2), McNeiley (2), Steeley Walker, Elizabeth Collier and Hinchcliffe. Recording assists were Kayla Vanover (2), Hinchcliffe (2), Shelby Sandifer, Jagoe and Payton.

Emma Patterson and Emma Pratt had one save each against Elizabethtown. Pratt added three more against Muhlenberg County.

LADY ACES TIE IN HEAT-SHORTENED GAME
In a game that was called at halftime due to the heat index, Owensboro Catholic (2-0-1) finished in a scoreless draw on the road at Bullitt East (1-0-1). Each team finished with six shots on goal. Megan Goodwin made six saves for the Lady Aces.

E-GALS SHUT OUT AT HOME
Apollo (0-3) held close until midway through the first half, but a barrage of scores allowed visiting Hopkinsville (2-1) to pull away and earn a 10-0 victory.
