Union County 54, Apollo 52

Union County’s Iverson King hit a shot at the buzzer Saturday evening to give the Braves their second victory over the Apollo Eagles this season.

King’s bucket gave his team the 54-52 win as Union is now 5-4 on the year and the Eagles fall to 1-6.

Union’s Kaleb Kanipe finished with a game-high 24 points in the win.

Apollo was led by Landon Hamilton’s 13 points. Harrison Bowman and Cameron Frantz each finished with 11 points for the Eagles.

Apollo plays Monday at South Warren.

DeSales 57, Owensboro Catholic 46

Owensboro Catholic was handed their first loss this season as the Aces fell to DeSales on the road Saturday at Central Hardin in the Will Harris Homes Winter Classic.

The Colts edged Catholic 57-46 as the Aces are now 7-1 on the year.

Gray Weaver led OC with 13 points as Parker Gray added 10 points, including two 3-pointers.

Catholic plays Tuesday on the road at Christian County.

Crittenden County 74, Trinity 61

Crittenden County hit 16-of-24 free throw attempts as that proved to be in difference in their win Saturday over Trinity.

The Rockets scored 28 points in the fourth quarter as they took down the Raiders 74-61.

Landon Huff led the Raiders with 17 points while Bailey Wright (16 points) and Denver Dickens (11 points) also finished in double digits.

Crittenden County’s Gabe Mott led all scorers with 18 points.

Trinity has now lost three-straight games as they’ll try to turn it around Tuesday at LaRue County.

Henderson County 66, Owensboro 27

Henderson County jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter against Owensboro Saturday and never let up as the Lady Colonels cruised to victory over the Lady Devils.

HC led 26-5 after the first and took down Owensboro 66-27 to hand the Lady Devils back-to-back losses for the first time this season;

Lyric Lawrence was the lone Owensboro player in double digits as she finished with 10 points.

Graci Risley led all scorers with 16 points in the win for the Colonels.

OHS coach Jansen Locher said Lady Colonels had their number early.

“We really struggled with their pressure, which led to some easy baskets for them,” he said. “We knew they were a tough team, and they went out and proved it to us. We are excited about the opportunity to play Logan County Monday night.”

The Lady Devils head south to take on the Lady Cougars Sunday and return home Saturday as they host Calloway County.

South Spencer 57, Trinity 31

The Trinity Lady Raiders lost their second game in as many days as they fell to Grayson County Friday and then South Spencer on Saturday.

South Spencer took down Trinity 57-31 despite 14 points from Josie Aull.

Aull continued her strong play from the night before as she finished with 24 points in the loss to the Lady Cougars.

Trinity plays Tuesday at Daviess County.
