The 2020-21 All-River States Conference Men’s Basketball Teams & Awards have been released after a vote for the league’s head coaches. University of Rio Grande (Ohio) sophomore forward Shiloah Blevins leads the honorees as this year’s RSC Men’s Basketball Player of the Year.

Blevins, a 6-5 native of South Webster, Ohio, headlines the list of 10 members on the All-RSC First Team. The next 10 players in the voting made up the All-RSC Second Team. Blevins has powered the RedStorm all the way to the RSC Championship finals on March 2 averaging 16.9 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 51 percent from the field and 83 percent from the foul line.

Rio Grande came away with a haul of awards while also having sophomore transfer Miki Tadic named RSC Men’s Basketball Newcomer of the Year and first-year head coach Ryan Arrowood named RSC Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year.

Tadic, a 6-3 product of Hilversum, Netherlands, averages a team-best 17.4 ppg and leads the conference with 66 made 3-pointers. He earned a spot on the All-RSC First Team along with teammate Blevins and was the top vote getter who is new to the RSC this year.

Arrowood took over Rio Grande this year and has put the RedStorm in the NAIA National Championship. That’s after the current run to the RSC finals and a 16-8 overall record. Rio Grande won three playoff games last week to earn its spot in the championship finals at WVU Tech.

Asbury (Ky.) University guard/forward Leander Ridgeway was second in the Player of the Year voting. He led the Eagles into the playoffs with 16.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. WVU Tech senior forward Tamon Scruggs also figured highly on the voting list. He leads the Golden Bears into the conference finals at 15.6 ppg and 5.7 rpg. IU Southeast senior guard/forward David Burton (17.2 ppg) was another all-around player high on the First Team.

Midway (Ky.) University guard Donnie Miller led the conference in scoring at 20.2 ppg for his spot on the First Team. He is joined there by teammate Kwon Evans at 17.3 ppg and 8.0 rpg. IU Kokomo also put two players on the First Team with senior guard Trequan Spivey coming in at 18.6 ppg and senior forward Desean Hampton (13.7 ppg) leading the conference in rebounds (9.1 rpg), field goals (.628) and blocks (2.0 bpg).

Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College guard Noah Young earned his First Team spot with 14.1 ppg and as the RSC assist leader at 4.6 apg.

The 10 players on the All-RSC Second Team were spread around eight different schools. WVU Tech and Point Park (Pa.) University led that grouping with two players each.

The RSC Men’s Basketball Champions of Character Team was also named. One member of each team was selected for best displaying the NAIA’s five character values of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
