Owensboro Catholic controlled the game on both ends of the floor Thursday night, as they were able to dominate Cumberland County 72-35 in the opening round of All-A State.

The Aces defense was dialed in from the tip, holding the Panthers to single digits in the first three quarters of the night to take a 63-21 lead into the fourth. And while Owensboro Catholic was held to just nine in the fourth, it was too little too late for Cumberland County as they fell 72-35.

Owensboro Catholic forced 16 turnovers in the contest, while dishing out 19 assists to the Panthers seven. Eleven different players scored for the Aces on the night, with seniors Brian Griffith and Parker Gray leading the way with 17 and 10 points respectively.

Owensboro Catholic improves to 19-2 with its third straight victory, as they now are set to take on University Heights in the second round matchup at 9:30 p.m. on Friday.
