Senior Parker Gray drilled a program single-game record nine threes on Friday, helping defeat the Panthers 72-40 as Head Coach Tim Riley grabbed his 162nd win with Owensboro Catholic in the process.

Gray (four threes, 12 points) and fellow senior guard Brian Griffith (three threes, 11 points) set the tone early for the Aces, hitting a combined eight threes and combining for 23 of the team’s points en route to a 29-14 lead following the first. Daviess County couldn’t turn things around in the second either, being held to 10 points while Gray knocked down three more from deep and had 11 in the quarter himself to help Owensboro Catholic lead 53-24 at halftime.

Parker continued his impressive marksmanship coming out of the locker room as well, knocking down two more threes to secure the game record in Aces history with nine threes. Griffith added six more points as well, helping grow their lead to 72-35 heading into the fourth.

Owensboro Catholic was held scoreless in the ensuing quarter, but it was too little too late for the Panthers in a 72-40 home loss on Friday. Gray finished with a game-high 29 points, while Griffith followed with 21 points in the win.

The win not only pushes the Aces to 21-3 overall and 5-0 in district play, but makes Head Coach Tim Riley the all-time wins leader in program history with 162 wins. Riley and company will look to keep their winning ways rolling next Tuesday, as they are set to battle Muhlenberg County at 7:30 p.m. at home

Daviess County was led by sophomore Jaxon Brown in the loss, as he was the only player in double figures on the night with 10 points. The Panthers offense struggled throughout the night shooting 6-22 from deep as opposed to the Aces 13-22, while also going 6-15 from the line and having 13 turnovers.

Sitting at 9-13 overall and 1-4 in district play following the loss, Daviess County will look to turn things around on the road against McLean County at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
