Daviess County cheer has had massive success in recent years and current senior BreOnna Griffith is adding onto that by taking her talents to the next level, committing to cheer at Georgetown College.

“It feels like my direction to my future is set,” Griffith said. “I’m looking forward to making all new memories with this team. I‘m thankful to Daviess County High School for the foundation that they have provided as I take my next steps in my educational journey.”

Having been a part of a program that has been multi-time regional champions and state champions, Griffith has been competing at a high level for four years.

“My senior season was extraordinarily special,” Griffith said. “This year was our year, we became three-time region champs, state champs, and placed fourth in the nation. I can proudly say that the 2022-2023 team was one of the best teams that I have been a part of.”

That same winning culture that has been instilled in her helped lead to her collegiate decision, saying that Georgetown will allow her to grow on and off the court.

“I chose Georgetown College because I wanted to walk on to a winning team in addition to the academic opportunities that will supply me with the best successful outcome for my future,” Griffith said. “What stood out the most was that I am coming out of a winning program and going into a program that already has a winning foundation,” Griffith said. At the NAIA level GC Cheer is currently three-times Mid-South Conference Cheerleading Champions. The coaches there have a winning mindset and just like my coaches in high school, they know what it takes to be a winner.”

She plans to double major in political science and psychology, ultimately planning to head in the direction of law school.

And while Griffith is excited to graduate and begin this next chapter of her life, she won’t forget the many memories she’s shared at Daviess County High School. The Panther’s support system is one she’s beyond thankful for, as it’s something that she will cherish for years to come.

“Some of my favorite memories were created this year,” Griffith said. “At state this year I can vividly remember the judges yelling Daviess County as the first place and hugging my Coach Sally Ward. I’m going to miss the bonds that I have created with each girl on the team and especially my coaches. “I’ll miss a lot of things about high school, I have had lots of fun memories created at DC. I’d like to thank my amazing support system, for all of their guidance. I would also like to thank my coaches (Kitty Jones, Sally Ward, and Tracy Gutsche) for pushing me to become a better athlete and leader.”
