The Lady Panthers topped Owensboro Catholic for the second time this season on Tuesday, as senior Raylee Roby’s complete-game performance with 12 strikeouts led to a 3-0 road win.

The game became pitcher’s duel from the jump, with Roby and senior Brooke Hamilton striking out four each and giving up no hits through the first two innings of play. But it was Daviess County that struck first, getting a two-out double from junior Makayla Rowan.

This started a short rally for the Lady Panthers as well, as sophomore Sadie Morris tripled and then senior Kayley Payne singled to plate a run in each and make it 2-0 going into the bottom of the third. Payne came through again in the top of the fifth, making it a 3-0 game by delivering a two-out RBI double.

With Brooke Hamilton’s leadoff double in the bottom half of the inning being the lone hit for the Lady Aces on the, Roby had more than enough run support to close out the 3-0 win.

After walking six in last week’s win over Owensboro Catholic, Roby bounced back by allowing the one hit and striking out 12 with no walks in seven innings in the circle. Payne led the way at the plate with a pair of RBIs, while Morris chipped in one as well.

Hamilton had the only hit for the Lady Aces on Tuesday, also striking out 12 while allowing three earned runs on eight hits and two walks in a complete-game performance. Owensboro Catholic falls to 9-7 and 2-2 in district play with the loss, as they’ll look to bounce back against the Lady Devils tomorrow at 5:30 when they finish their previous matchup that was postponed due to injury.

Daviess County on the other hand sits at 15-2 and 5-0 in district play with the win, carrying a seven-game winning streak into another district matchup with Owensboro at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
